Part of education in Western Australia is the emphasis on teaching of values as part of the school curriculum. This has always been integrated through out the program at our school but to support this we are having lessons through the week looking at different virtues.
We are basing our values lessons on the highly successful ‘Virtues Project’.
‘The Vision of The Virtues Project is to serve humanity by supporting the moral and spiritual development of people of all cultures, by helping them to remember who they really are and to live by their highest values.
The Mission of the Virtues Project is to provide empowering strategies that inspire the practice of virtues in everyday life through programs of excellence and simplicity which support people of all ages to cultivate their virtues -- the gifts of character.
Schools, Day Care Centres, Child Development Programs, Boys & Girls Clubs, and other youth programmes throughout the world are applying The Virtues Project to create a culture of caring and character.
Virtues are the essence of the human spirit and the content of our character.’
Virtues are stronger than just Values as Values are personal and can be individual where as virtues are global. The virtues covered include-
